An international engineering giant that is playing a key role in modernizing and decarbonizing US high-voltage infrastructure wishes to expand its energy and power team with the addition of HV Design Engineers.
Working closely with clients as they expand and modernize their transmission and distribution systems, this is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the HV industry.
Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative designs for HV substations, for clients across North America
- Ensure HV substation designs help achieve the aim of modernizing T&D infrastructure
- Designs will cover primary, layouts and sections control and protection, panel arrangements / layouts, AC / DC schematics, power systems etc
- Carry out quality reviews for all aspects of substation design
- Develop project proposals for substations, covering design resource estimates
- Develop equipment specifications
- Give engineering support to clients across project lifecycle
- Conduct field visits, completing related reports and documentation
- Present design deliverables and proposals to stakeholders, such as clients and permitting authorities
- Take part in stakeholder meetings
- Work closely with other engineering and field teams
Experience and Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an HV Design Engineer / Substation Design Engineer / Control and Protection Design Engineer, preferably at voltage levels of 100kV and above
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Professional Engineering license (desirable)
- Proficiency with AutoDesk or Bentley software (CADD)
- Project experience with collecting stations or substations integrating renewable energy – wind, hydro, solar etc
- Bulk power distribution substation and smart grid design for connection of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), such as Energy Storage Systems (ESS)
